Are you just getting started in Anthropology and wondering which Twitter accounts to follow? Here is a list of 20 Anthropology organizations you should follow on Twitter! This list has a heavy USA focus since that’s what I know best. There are LOTS of other great Anthropology organizations (and people) to follow on Twitter–this list is just to get you started. Look for more recommendations in a future post!

General Anthropology

American Anthropological Association @AmericanAnthro This is the Twitter account of the American Anthropological Association, the “world’s largest organization of individuals interested in Anthropology.”

American Anthropologist @AmAnthroJournal This is the Twitter account of the American Anthropological Association’s journal, American Anthropologist.

SAPIENS @SAPIENS_org This is the Twitter account of SAPIENS, a very popular Anthropology blog.

HRAF @HRAF755 This is the Twitter account of the HRAF (Human Relations Area Files). This is a non-profit connected to Yale University, that holds ethnography and archaeology databases with information from all over the world.

Smithsonian NAA @anthroarchives This is the Twitter account of the Smithsonian’s National Anthropological Archives.

Anthropology Encyclopedia @anthroencyclo This is the Twitter account of the Cambridge Encyclopedia of Anthropology, an open-access resource.

World Council of Anthropological Associations @WCAAimpact This is the Twitter account of the World Council of Anthropological Association, a network of international Anthropology associations.

Applied Anthropology
